A recent media report has revealed the expected lineup for Barcelona in their match against Real Sociedad this Sunday evening, as part of the 26th round of La Liga. Barcelona is looking to get back on track in the league after losing their top spot to Atlético Madrid. However, they will face this challenge without their defender Andreas Christensen, who is sidelined due to injury. The injury was confirmed by Barcelona's coach Hans Flick during a pre-match press conference held on Saturday.

Flick did not provide further details about his lineup, but he indicated that he would be making changes to the team before their upcoming UEFA Champions League round-of-16 first-leg match against Benfica, which is scheduled for Wednesday in Lisbon. While Flick didn't elaborate on which players would be rotated or rested, he did speak positively about defender Ronald Araujo, suggesting that Araujo is expected to return to the starting lineup after recovering from his injury.

According to the Catalan newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Barcelona’s lineup for the match against Sociedad is likely to feature the following players:

  • Goalkeeper: Wojciech Szczęsny
  • Defenders: Jules Koundé, Ronald Araujo, Koubarsi, and Gerard Martin
  • Midfielders: Casado, Pedri, and Gavi
  • Forwards: Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha

Barcelona is highly motivated to secure a victory in this match, as they aim to regain their position at the top of the La Liga standings. Atlético Madrid had overtaken them after defeating Athletic Bilbao 1-0, which allowed Atlético to reach 56 points, two points ahead of Barcelona, who are currently in second place. Real Madrid is also close behind, sitting in third place.

This match will be crucial for Barcelona as they look to restore their dominance in Spain's top-flight competition while also preparing for the more significant challenge in the Champions League against Benfica. With Flick likely to rotate his squad, the game against Sociedad could offer a chance for Barcelona to demonstrate their depth and adaptability in crucial moments.
