the head coach of Real Madrid, expressed his disappointment after his team's 1-2 loss to Real Betis on Saturday at the Benito Villamarín Stadium. This defeat came in the 26th round of the Spanish La Liga and highlighted several issues the coach believes need to be addressed if the team is to remain competitive.

Following the match, Ancelotti shared his thoughts with the press, saying, "We started the game well, but we couldn’t maintain the same rhythm. We lost control of the game against a team that performed better and deserved the win." The loss was particularly damaging as it cost Real Madrid crucial points in the title race, with the team now under pressure to react quickly and regain form. Ancelotti admitted, "Yes, this is a painful loss. We need to respond quickly," stressing the importance of bouncing back after this setback.

The coach also discussed the broader implications of the defeat, acknowledging that dropping points at this stage of the season is costly. "Losing at this point of the campaign is difficult because every team is working hard, and we didn’t show the necessary performance today," he added. Real Madrid’s inability to maintain their early dominance in the game was a central issue. Ancelotti noted that after starting well, the team began to lose their focus and rhythm. "We lost the ball 27 times in the first half alone. That is a very high number, and Betis capitalized on that to make a comeback," he said.

Looking ahead, Ancelotti turned his attention to Real Madrid's upcoming challenge against Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16. The coach was clear that if his team continues to play at the same level as they did against Betis, they will not have a chance of winning. "If we play like this, we won’t win on Tuesday," he said bluntly. Ancelotti stressed the need for his players to react positively and make adjustments before the crucial European clash.

One of the key talking points of the match was the substitution of Kylian Mbappé, who was taken off after a less-than-ideal performance. Ancelotti explained that Mbappé had not trained much in recent days and was not in peak physical condition. "He wasn’t in his best form, and that was clear to everyone," the coach stated. As a result, Ancelotti opted to bring on Endrick in his place to avoid any further issues. "Mbappé wasn’t fully ready physically," he confirmed.

With this loss, Real Madrid’s position in La Liga remains precarious, as they are still second in the standings with 54 points. Meanwhile, Real Betis capitalized on the victory, moving up to 38 points and into sixth place. The upcoming games will be crucial for Ancelotti’s squad, as they need to regain their form and focus to remain competitive both in domestic and European competitions.
